چکیده

The equilibrium measure in the presence of an external eld plays a role in a number of areas in analysis, for example in random matrix theory: the limiting mean density of eigenvalues is precisely the density of the equilibrium measure. Typical behavior for the equilibrium measure is: 1. it is positive on the interior of a nite number of intervals, 2. it vanishes like a square root at endpoints, and 3. outside the support, there is strict inequality in the Euler-Lagrange variational conditions. If these conditions hold, then the limiting local eigenvalue statistics is loosely described by a \bulk" in which there is universal behavior involving the sine kernel, and \edge eeects" in which there is a universal behavior involving the Airy kernel. Through techniques from potential theory and integrable systems, we show that this \regular" behavior is generic for equilibrium measures associated with real analytic external elds. In particular, we show that for any one-parameter family of external elds V =c the equilibrium measure exhibits this regular behavior, except for an at most countable number of values of c. We discuss applications of our results to random matrices, orthogonal polynomials and integrable systems.

First principles studies on band structures and density of states of graphite surface oxides

Graphite oxide constitutes carbon network with oxygen atoms both on hexagonal arrangement and the edge sites. Structural and electronic properties for graphite-oxygen complexes have been explored using first-principles total-energy calculations within the local density approximation (LDA). Band structures and density of states for the propose carbon 3D models are reported. A finite energy gap and...

First-Principles Investigation of Density of States and Electron Density in Wurtzite In0.5Ga0.5 N Alloys with GGA-PBEsol Method

In present work, we have calculated the electronic properties including density of states and electron density for GaN, InN and InxGa1-xN  in wurtzite phase for x=0.5. The study is based on density functional theory with full potential linearized augmented plane wave method by generalized gradient approximation for calculating electronic properties. In this report we concluded that InxGa1-xN ba...

Analysis of Lyapunov Method for Control of Quantum States: non-generic case

We analyze the state/trajectory tracking problem using Lyapunov control for finite-dimensional quantum systems when the target state is not a generic density operator and the Lyapunov function is therefore not a Morse function. For ideal systems general stability results are derived for stationary target states based on the linearization method. For the special class of pseudo-pure states a ful...

First-principles study on the electronic structure of Thiophenbithiol (TBT) on Au(100) surface

First principle calculations were performed using Density functional theory within the local spin density approximation (LSDA) to understand the electronic properties of Au(100)+TBT system and compare the results with Au(100) and bulk Au properties. Band structure, the total DOS and charge density for these materials are calculated. We found that the HOMO for Au(100)+TBT becomes broader than Au...
